In The Bag: |
S Warlocks—the proto glow ones are my favorite. Used for putts and upshots < 200’
S Wizards—used for drives <310’ and some upshots
E Element—incredibly versatile midrange. Flip-ups, anhyzers, tunnel shots, downhill, etc
E Element-X—Great disc for almost any shot. Perfect complement to the Element
E Sabre—One of the old milky whites. By far my favorite driver for straight shots, glidey drives, etc. Irreplaceable though
S Blaze—Beat to hell. Freakish turnovers. Very useful for standstill woods upshots
E Blazes—New for hyzers. Beat for straight shots and tight s-curves
Diablo DT—Big distance, huge sky rollers, etc. E Blurr—Long and accurate. Can do anything with this disc
E Spirits—Hyzer shots. Beat ones (or Rage) for more control shots |
Strengths: |
Overall, putting. My biggest weakness has always been consistency, but that is certainly a characteristic that is improving. |
Training: |
I play rounds where I throw multiple discs per shot. Also, take discs out to the course and practice certain shots. Pick a hard basket and throw repeated upshots from varying lies and distances. And of course, always, always, always keep your putting sharp. I have three baskets at my house, including two traveling ones that can be taken anywhere, that are great to get in some practice. |
Player Advice : |
Think about what you’re doing wrong. Playing disc golf is not an end in and of itself if you want to be competitive. Try not to reinforce bad habits if at all possible. And, putt. |
Player Models/Influences: |
Steve Brinster, the first big name disc golfer I met and the one I have spent the most time with, has been a huge influence on my game both physically and mentally. He is something of a disc golf role model to me. Also, Will Kriewald and John DeBois for always providing a great time, great conversation, and always being supportive. |
Personal Disc Golf Goals: |
To become a top 10 player, be constantly improving, and always have a great time on the course. |
