The GDS Tour - Disc Golf Events for Amateur Players

The Gateway Disc Sports (GDS) Tour is an amateur disc golf tour of promotional and competitive events that focuses on attracting recreational players. Our objectives for the GDS Tour include:
- Introducing recreational players to competitive disc golf with player packs, prizes and trophies
- Establishing a network of tournament directors for our amateur disc golf tour
- Promoting the entire line of Gateway products to competing players
- Promoting the sport of disc golf and developing local clubs
Gateway is a full-service company involved in ever aspect of the sport of disc golf. From new products to evenets to course design and installation, we are dedicated to making this sport grow. GDS Tour events will allow players to physically see and touch our new discs and when possible "test drive" them during or after competition. Every tour event participant typically receives 1-3 new discs, and prizes awarded to players include Gateway discs, golf bags, apparel and other merchandise.
Details for GDS Tournament Directors
We ask that GDS Tour event directors represent, sell or distribute as prizes Gateway products exclusively. Each event receives a limited set of test discs for players to throw and review, and in addition we offer up to $300.00 worth of sponsorship for each GDS Tour event. Tournament directors may choose from different levels of event sponsorship, and while tournament guidelines are provided they are not mandatory. Details such as entry fee, divisions, payouts, location, holes, etc. are left to the discretion of the GDS event director.
We envision a casual yet competitive atmosphere at 2006 GDS Tour events this coming year. We will focus on providing friendly competition where new players can meet and have a good time, providing recreational players who have not yet competed with an introduction to organized competition. For tournament directors, the best way to recruit competitors in a GDS Tour event is to hand a flyer directly to a recreational player with a personal invitation.
Gateway will incorporate all feedback and information we receive from tournament directors and players to formulate standard guidelines for events in the future. Feel free to forward your comments and suggestions, as they will no doubt improve the GDS Tour in years to come.
